Kendrick Lamar had his rounds throughout New York City last night (January 28). After hitting the stage with J. Cole at Madison Square Garden Theater, the Compton rapper traveled a few blocks to surprise fans at a Dom Kennedy and Skeme’s Get Home Safely tour concert at Irving Plaza.

The popular MC performed his good kid, m.A.A.d city favorite “Backseat Freestyle” alongside his Los Angeles brethren. The crowd immediately went into a frenzy as the sonics from the Hit-Boy-produced beat filled the standing room.

After the impromptu performance, Lamar had a few kind words about his longtime friendship with Kennedy and Skeme. The Compton native also gifted the Get Home Safely rapper with a bottle of Dom Pérignon to repay him for doing the same a hometown show some years ago.
