Yesterday (February 21), news broke that Fruitvale Station actor Michael B. Jordan had been cast as the Human Torch in the forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Of course, there were those who had issues with Jordan, a Black man, playing a character that is white in the comics.
The Human Torch aka Johnny Storm is blonde and blue eyed, about as white as you can get. The character’ Sue Storm is being played by Kate Mara, aka Zoe from House Of Cards, which will make saying they are brother and sister as in the source material a bit of stretch but we’ll leave that up to the writers.
As for the aforementioned critics, Jordan told TMZ, “They’re still going to go see it anyway.”
True indeed. Also worth noting is that Jordan is seen rocking a pair of infrared Air Jordan 6s in the clip. Swag him out.
The new Fantastic Four film is scheduled to be in theaters in 2015.
