There’s a higher level of thoughtfulness in West Coast newcomer Vince Staple’s approach to emceeing. That can be heard on his Scoop DeVille produced cut, “Nate,” which he delivered a visual for today.

This song for those who didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in their mouth or a white picket fence. Staples details the residual effects of seeing his father dabble in street life and what his incarceration did to his family. The accompanying clip doesn’t follow the Def Jam rapper per se. Instead, we see the story of a young boy whose upbringing is very similar.

“Nate” is one of 10 tracks that appear on Vince Staples’ Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2 mixtape. Be sure to download that after you tune into the Alexi Papalexopoulos-directed video below.
