Chance The Rapper had a lot to celebrate on the one year anniversary of his critically acclaimed Acid Rap mixtape yesterday, April 30. While we’re sure that he and his team did something internally, the animated MC shared a new song with his fans titled “I Am Very Very Lonely” to include them in the celebration.

Chance, an eclectic MC who hails from Chicago, is making music that’s totally free of form — even more than usual. Here, the Midwest wordsmith relies heavily on melody and tribal chants while rhyming over soothing sonic bedding created by his band, The Social Experiment. Chance delivers his message more free-flowingly than spitfire emceeing to convey a how lonely he was one particular night.

“I Am Very Very Lonely” sounds more like the kind of record an artist makes when they’re just vibing in the studio. It’ll be interesting to see if it appears on Chance The Rapper’s next project, which is also rumored to be titled The Social Experiment. Stream the record below.
