Rick Ross Refuses To Let 50 Cent’s “Too Old For Rap” Talk Slide, Fires Back With Mom Jokes
Rick Ross and 50 Cent are back at it, and this time Rozay is not holding anything back — not even 50’s mother. The two have been trading shots for years, but this latest round shows the beef is nowhere near cooling off.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Ross took to his Instagram Story to respond after 50 Cent made comments suggesting he was done dropping albums. Ross said he understood 50’s decision, but pointed to rappers like Bun B as proof that age should never determine when someone stops making music. He also brought up the late Pimp C, saying the culture would never have let him quit either.
The back and forth started after 50 Cent spoke with Ebro Darden for an episode of Apple Music’s Rap Life Review. During that conversation, 50 argued that Hip-Hop is closely tied to youth culture. He told Ebro that, “you are not supposed to be the hottest in nothing at 60.” He admitted his own music output has slowed while he focuses more on television and other business ventures.
Ross clearly disagreed with that logic. In his response, he said “they can put out albums ’til they 85. That’s how it go when the streets love you, when the culture need you, and you bring something that can’t be duplicated. F**k what your age is.”
Things escalated further when Ross brought up the G-Unit Reebok G6 sneaker relaunch, claiming the shoes did not actually sell out the way people were saying. He then aimed straight at 50’s financial history and his mother, saying “your mama turning over in her grave, damn.” That is a sensitive subject, since 50’s mother Sabrina Jackson has come up in his past conflicts before — including his feud with T.I.
As for 50’s side, Complex shares that the timing lines up with his own trolling. After the G6 sold out within two hours, 50 posted a video mocking Ross directly, saying “Sold out, fat boy.” He credited New York for driving the demand and took a shot at whether Ross could pull similar numbers relying on Southern support.
Neither rapper looks ready to let this one go, and fans are already waiting on the next round.
