Raekwon has aged gracefully in Hip-Hop culture by remaining current and knowledgeable on new trends, but he’s never afraid to take it back to the old school when necessary. That’s proven by the veteran MC’s latest track “Wishing On A Star.”

Backed by Rose Royce’s 1977 classic record of the same title, The Chef quickly begins throwing lyrical darts on this soulful opus. “Glorified, getting it, guns on us/ Tons of trust/ Few ni**as in the slums, that’s us,” he rhymes, while displaying his dexterous wordplay. The Wu-Tang Clan favorite’s way of waxing poetics is cinematic most time, and that makes a world of difference over the nostalgic production.

Following “Wishing On A Star,” Raekwon plans to release a new song over some classic records each week leading up to the release of his F.I.L.A. album. Stream the first dosage of audio crack below.
