Fans waiting on Zack Snyder‘s Man Of Steel sequel have been blessed with teaser shots here and there, but none featuring the main star of the show. Henry Cavill appears in a new promo photo as Superman, unveiling the son of Krypton looking poised for action.

USA Today released an interview with Snyder this morning, which was accompanied by the shot of Cavill in the suit complete with a foreboding background. Considering the plot of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which pits Ben Affleck’s Batman against Superman, it appears he could very well be in Gotham City in the photo.

Snyder let loose some details of the movie, which he’s currently shooting in Detroit and could barely contain his excitement.

From USA Today:

It ultimately made sense with Dawn of Justice to add Bruce Wayne and his cowled alter ego to the mix. Because of Christopher Nolan’s recent Dark Knight trilogy, “I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie,” Snyder says, “but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.”

Instead of using several movies to define Affleck’s Batman, Snyder felt the character’s 75-year mythology is so deep in culture now that they can just jump to an older, road-weary take on the Dark Knight. Plus, he says, “it’s cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys.”

Snyder explains the “v” in the title too, stating he didn’t want it to be “vs.” as he wants to add some mystery to what Bruce Wayne and Kal-El’s relationship will ultimately become. Snyder’s only shot a few scenes with the pair, and the moment doesn’t get lost on the director as evidenced in the interview.

“You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it’s Batman and Superman, let’s just be honest,” Snyder says. “I don’t know how you get bigger than that.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is slated for a May 2016 release. Hit the next page for the full photo.
