Veteran sports analyst Stephen A. Smith has been suspended by ESPN. Some people called this as soon as about halfway through his now infamous commentary on domestic violence on First Take.
Smith won’t be off the air for very long, though. TMZ reports that he won’t be appearing on First Take or his ESPN Radio show again until Wednesday, August 6.
Yesterday (July 28), on First Take, Smith apologized for his comments last Friday (July 25), which included saying women should basically do their best not to provoke men into beating them. During his aplogy he noted that it was the most “egregious error of his career.”
Now the question everyone is certainly asking is, “Is a week off enough of a punishment?” One person who probably thinks it’s harsh is Whoopi Goldberg, who co-signed his commentary about women, and men, keeping their hands off each other.
