Will Packer clearly knows how to produce movies people want to see. The 40-year-old producer who got his name in the mix for his work on numerous Hollywood hits, has scored his third no. 1 movie of the year with the Idris Elba/Taraji P. Henson thriller, No Good Deed.

According to The Wrap, the aquatic, family friendly Dolphin Tale 2 was supposed to sweep the weekend’s box office race but moviegoers thought otherwise. No Good Deed took in 24.5 million compared to Dolphin Tale 2’s $16.5 million. 2011’s original film took in $19.2 million. Even more astonishing is No Good Deed was only shot on a $13.2 million production budget.

The filmmaker and his Will Packer Productions company also landed no. 1 movies this year for Ride Along and Think Like a Man Too, both starring Kevin Hart.

It is also worth noting that Valentine Day’s About Last Night came in at no. 2 behind The Lego Movie.
