LaRue Bell, a senior at Cajon High School in California, reported to his administrators an incident that took place in math class where his teacher referred to her Black students as “ni**ers.”

When the teacher began moving students’ seats, Bell questioned: “How come you’re moving all the black people around?”

“Because I want to move all the N*****s,” Bernedette Yuson allegedly responded.

Bell told The Sun he immediately got up to leave and report the incident to administrators, at which time he claims the teacher said, “Go ahead and tell them. I’ve got a lawyer and pay him every month.”

The school district has apparently taken disciplinary action following the student’s complaint. “On Sept. 3, we became aware of a complaint about inappropriate language used during class by a Cajon High teacher,” Linda Bardere, a district spokesperson, wrote in an email to The Sun. “We launched a fair and deliberate investigation regarding the matter, and we took quick and decisive disciplinary action once all of the facts were in.”

Bell, his family and NAACP are currently petitioning that the school district fire Yuson, who reportedly hasn’t shown any remorse nor commented on the incident.

It’s worth noting that some students have come to defend the instructor. See news coverage below.
