A depressed man in Russia died Tuesday after officials say he killed himself using a homemade guillotine.
47-year-old Albert Repin of Moscow was found with his neck severed after the engineer secretly built the decapitating device in his home.
The parents of Repin report that he told them he was building a closet when in fact he was building the beheading device much like the ones used during the French Revolution.
The makeshift machine used plywood, rope and metal sheeting for the razor.
Moscow police report that Repin used four 5-liter water bottles attached to the razor with rope before laying his head on a piece of wood and cutting the line.
His brother reportedly found him dead after kicking down his door because he hadn’t heard from him in several days.
His parents told police that he’d been depressed over his divorce for years.
