A congressman may have crossed the line after being caught on camera attacking a student that tried to interview him on the streets of Washington, D.C.

Congressman Bob Etheridge, a Democrat from North Carolina, was captured on video grabbing the wrist and neck of an unidentified student after he asks him on a district sidewalk,

“Hi, Congressman. How are you? Do you fully support the Obama agenda?”

Obviously not prepared to answer questions Etheridge reacted violently knocking the camera man’s equipment down and grabbing the interviewer saying,

“Who are you? Tell me who you are.”

The interviewer who refused to identify himself and the camera man are heard on the video telling the Congressman that they’re “Just students sir” after he takes hold of the interviewer’s wrist before grabbing him by the neck.

The video has caused an onslaught of responses including one from The National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jon Thompson who tells WDTV Raleigh,

“Bob Etheridge has lost it. His conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress. It’s bad enough that he’s joined Obama’s assault on North Carolina jobs, but his physical assault on a college student goes beyond the pale.”

Congressman Etheridge has since decline comment but is expected to make a statement later today.
