Ghost vs. Stern

Simon Stern has been the Lex Luthor to Ghost’s Superman all season. Stern went the corporate vulture route to become the landlord for Truth and force Ghost to work under the Stern brand. Truth to Ghost represents legitimacy. A constant theme throughout the season deals with future aspirations. He asks Dre if he wants to hustle his entire life. He constantly discusses his origin and how he could be more than street. Truth is his way out of drug dealing, and without Truth he feels trapped and doomed to a limited legacy. Ghost always has a plan and rallying other club owners under Stern to eventually flip seems like a sound idea. Ghost knows that with Kantos altering the profits to ensure that Truth never reaches the magical 20% mark to justify returning ownership to Ghost, he has to go the espionage route to get leverage. His findings make for interesting allies and scenarios for Ghost going forward.

These few storyline highlights couldn’t explain the entire season in detail, but it serves as a solid guide to our current situation. Ghost wants to repair his family life and regain truth. Angela wants Felipe Lobos at any cost, even her irrational dreams of being Mrs. James St. Patrick. Tasha wants love but will settle for financial security and family stability. Tommy wants to be a successful control substance connoisseur, and Kanan wants to f*ck everything up!

Three more episodes to go. If you fell behind on the season, you better set some time aside and binge till you drop. This rollercoaster ride will either end beautifully or become the most elegant disaster we’ve ever seen on TV.
