Talib Kweli has been active of late with the release of a project last month titled Train Of Thought: Lost Lyrics, Rare Releases & Beautiful B-Sides Vol. 1. The Brooklyn bomber unleashed yet another project over the weekend, F**k The Money, and this time for the low price of nothing at all.

As reported by Billboard, Talib Kweli tweeted out details of the new record early Saturday morning, which was quite the surprise for fans of the rapper. According to Kweli, a whopping 1 million people downloaded the project, and he joked with his followers about their rabid consumption.

“Yall love free sh*t. A MILLION of Yall downloaded my free album #f*ckthemoney at http://kweliclub.com  Yall ain’t sh*t jk,” tweeted Kweli.

Kweli explained the impetus behind the release of the album after an appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher.

“People don’t buy music, they’d rather stream and pay money to streaming companies,” Kweli said, during the Overtime section with Maher. “It’s convenient. As horrible as it is, it’s my responsibility to do something about it.

Kweli, who has released free projects in times past, has taken on the role as a champion for working musical artists in a climate that isn’t financially kind to those on the independent or underground circuit.

At the top of the year, Kweli talked about his decision to leave the major label structure and focus on his Javotti Media company and label via a column entry with Medium.

The F**k The Money album can be found on Kweli’s website, kweliclub.com.
