Anthony Mackie has been skating on thin ice with his African-American fan base since he claimed everybody with dreadlocks was down for the fall. That ice very well may have shattered after the 37-year-old threw in his presidential endorsement for Donald Trump of all people.

“I would 100 percent want to run Trump’s campaign. 100 percent,” Mackie told BET correspondent Smriti Mundhra during a junket for his upcoming film, Our Brand Is Crisis. “I mean, first that’ll be the best party ever when he won, and second, Trump’s an easy sell… When you look at Trump, he’s an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you’re a ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ candidate, people would identify with that.”

“I’m on the bandwagon,” he continued. “I’m drinking the Kool-Aid!”

Although Mackie also subscribes to the belief actors make the best politicians, he doesn’t foresee a career in D.C. as his next move.

“I don’t think I would be able to hack it in politics,” he said. “If you question me, or you say something about my family, I’m coming at you, so I would definitely lose every presidential race, because I would be outside beating somebody up.”

It doesn’t take a political science major to predict how the people reacted to the Anthony Mackie Donald Trump presidential announcement.
