Well this is no good. The founder of a vastly popular megachurch in Singapore has been found guilty of embezzling $35 million to fund his wife’s singing career.

After a nearly three-year trial, a court in Singapore found Kong Hee, leader and pastor of the City Harvest Church, guilty of criminal breach of trust for misappropriating just over 50 million in Singaporean currency to promote the wife’s music in Asia and America.

Hee has denied the fraud charges, but released no comment following the ruling.

The embezzled money was supposed to be used for the church, however, records were reportedly falsified to hide their tracks. Hee, and five aides also found guilty, claimed the music would attract new members to the church, which is already attended by thousands.

Hee’s wife, Ho Yeow Sun, appeared in a music video with Wyclef Jean in 2007, but her career never blew up. Instead, her husband could be headed to jail for up to a decade.

A sentencing dates has yet to be scheduled.
