A 60-year-old Michigan woman is in police custody after authorities say she attacked her son’s girlfriend, killing her with an axe.

Police believe 26-year-old Mila Perry came stopped by her boyfriend’s grandmother’s house Monday to pick up her 3-year-old son DeCarlos Jr. when the older woman, whose identity is being withheld, began to attack her with an axe.

The grandmother’s neighbor Ernest Jones tells The Associated Press that he rushed over to help after seeing the sister of Perry’s boyfriend run out the house screaming,

“My mother’s going to jail! She killed Mila!”

Jones says he then ran inside the house and described the grisly scene to The Associated Press saying,

“I saw blood in the living room and a trail of blood leading to the kitchen. There was a pool of blood on the floor and a bloody handprint on the wall.”

When he looked down stairs into the basement Jones says he saw the older woman standing above Mila with a long wood-handled ax in her hands while Mila begged for help.

“Mila moaned, ‘Help me, help me!” while her attacked raised the ax above her head and said,

“I told you I’d get you!”

Jones fled the scene and called police.

After a four hour stand-off police arrested the woman and retrieved the 3-year-old boy from the house unarmed.

Police believe she attacked the woman because they had a fight over the weekend.
