A chill session between five guys turned fatal because of chicken, and apparent anger issues. Police in Houston arrested a man for stabbing his friend to death because he snatched up the last piece of a glorious bird.
38-year-old Renaldo Rivera was arrested for murder last week after a fight with 34-year-old Perez Gonzales got out of hand.
Five men had been making dinner and drinking in an apartment in the western area of the city – but dinner reportedly turned deadly after Gonzalez took the last piece of chicken.
The row escalated into a fist fight which ended up spilling out into the parking lot of the apartment complex, according to police. Rivera then allegedly stabbed Gonzalez before running away from the scene with a knife. Gonzalez died at the scene.
When he returned to the scene of the crime, police say he then admitted to them that he had stabbed Gonzalez.
Rivera was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held in Harris County jail on $200,000 bond, according to online jail records. An attorney is not listed.
Longtime resident John McDonald heard the police sirens and saw the patrol car lights flashing, but had no idea what all the commotion was about.
“I just felt that a human life taken over a piece of chicken is ridiculous,” McDonald said to KPRC Houston.
Sadly, chicken and other food-related crimes are nothing new.
