The big E. Coli scare over at Chipotle has now made its way to The Buckeye State after representatives for the popular Mexican food restaurant assured the public their was nothing to worry about.

Reports ABC6:

Three additional states — now, including Ohio — have reported people infected with the outbreak strain of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O26 (STEC O26) since the last update.

The Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made the announcement Friday afternoon.

Accroding to the CDC, 45 people are now reported to be infected with the outbreak strain of STEC O26 have now been reported from a total of 6 states: California (2), Minnesota (2), New York (1), Ohio (1), Oregon (13), and Washington (26).

According to the Ohio Department of Health, the case in Ohio involves a 25-year-old man who ate at a Chipotle in Akron. This incident happened on October 31, according to ODH spokesperson Melanie Amato.

“We’re looking into it,” Amato said. “There’s no concern at this time that it’s spreading.”

Sixteen ill people have been hospitalized, the CDC says. There are no deaths.

“The epidemiologic evidence available at this time suggests that a common meal item or ingredient served at Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants in several states is a likely source of this outbreak.”

Forty-three of 45 ill people interviewed reported eating at a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant in the week before their illness started.

The investigation has not identified what specific food is linked to illness.

That being said, you may want to pump your breaks on making that Chipotle trip this weekend.
