OJ Mayo just got the boot. The NBA announced to day that Mayo, a free agent who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks, has been dismissed and disqualified due to violating the terms of the NBA’s Anti-Drug Program (Twitter is reacting).
Mayo won’t be allowed to apply for reinstatement for two years, when the former high school phenom and no. 3 NBA Draft pick will be 30-years-old.
No word on exactly what drug was found in Mayo’s system. Per the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, that information cannot be disclosed.
Safe bet it was stronger than weed, though. Also, speculation is that it couldn’t have been a PED, for which he hadn’t been suspended before, but for a “drug of abuse.”
This story is developing.
