Charles Barkley, aka the Round Mound of Rebound, is not necessarily the first person you think of when it comes to being a mouthpiece for informed commentary on race relations. Nevertheless, the NBA legend is set to host a series on TNT called The Race Card.

Says TNT:

The America that he knew has lost its way, becoming mired in partisan politics, social divides and entrenched corporate interests. Now he hopes to get to the root of the problem in the new limited-run series The Race Card.

So far, six episodes of the series, at an hour each, have been ordered and it will launch in early 2017. Each week Barkley will take on topics that are trending in the news cycle and discuss them with “cultural leaders and tastemakers.”

“We as Americans never discuss the issue of race in this country and how it impacts everything in our lives until something bad happens,” said Barkley, who serves as an executive producer, via a press statement. “I see this project as a way to talk about race, class and cultural differences and challenge everyone’s status quo.”

Considering Barkley lack of a filter, this show will be intriguing at the least. Stop victim blaming, though, Chuck.
