Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def is speaking on the rash of police shootings and how the media loves to play the videos over and over again.

Bey released the song with producerĀ Ferrari Sheppard. Together they have been recording music under the name Dec. 99th.

On “HYMN” Yasiin Bey raps about what we’ve all been experiencing via social media and television over the last couple years, especially the last couple of months. Not being able to escape the images of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and others dying on camera after being shot by police has cause many to criticize society and news media for constantly sharing the images without offering any solutions to the problem.

In under three minutes Bey capture those sentiments with lines like, “How many views when the blood ooze? I’m confused.”

The song was released as a TIDAL exclusive. Listen below.
