President Barack Obama has become an iconic world leader to due to his embrace of music and culture, and that is supported by First Lady Michelle Obama‘s penchant for the hip and cool. Inspired by the South By Southwest music festival, President Obama will be hosting a similar “lituation” at the White House known as South By South Lawn.
One of the hallmarks of this year’s SXSW was the appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Obama at an event built around civic engagement and the upcoming election this fall. The South By South Lawn festival, which features a tagline of “Arts, Ideas and Action,” will kick off this October and features interactive panel discussions, a film festival for youth, and a series of musical performances.
From the White House:
South by South Lawn, an event inspired by South by Southwest, will bring together creators, innovators, and organizers who work day in and day out to improve the lives of their fellow Americans and people around the world.
