Teacher-turned-rapper Dee-1 is giving the gift of education with his “Knowledge For College” Tour this fall.

Dee-1 stuck a nerve with college students and graduates worldwide with his hit song “Sallie Mae Back” where he rapped about pulling off the nearly-impossible feat of paying back all of his student loans. Now, he’s looking to not only help some of his fellow Sallie Mae-owing fans, but hopefully prevent some students from having to take out any loans at all.

The New Orleans rapper has partnered with Sallie Mae to launch the “Knowledge For College” tour where he will be performing at select schools and giving away scholarships along the way.

In a promotional video for the campaign Dee-1 says:

“Anything you do that is as big of a time commitment and a financial investment as going to college is, you should always have a plan. I’ve partnered with Sallie Mae to help people develop that plan. We’re able to help one another accomplish our ultimate goal that we want to make college happen. I want to just cultivate the desire within my audience to want to go to college because if you take one step towards success by going to college and you honestly think it’s your best effort, success takes two steps towards you.”
