The Black Panther movie hasn’t even started filming but it’s already personifying Black excellence on elite levels. The great Angela Bassett has joined the cast of the highly anticipated movie.

Marvel announced today that Angela Bassett will be playing the Ramonda, mother of T’Challa, aka the Black Panther, who is being portrayed by Chadwick Boseman.

The Academy Award-nominated Bassett joins a star-studded cast that already includes Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker and Lupita Nyong’o and many more. Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station), is the film’s director.

Marvel’s Black Panther is due in theaters on February 16, 2018. Y’all really need to move that date up, though, #fortheculture.
