Stephanie Pazmino is behind bars after stabbing a transgender man in the arm and face on a New York subway car late Monday (Dec. 26) night. The man accused Pazmino of allegedly saying she didn’t want to sit next to a Black person after he offered her a seat.

Pix11 reports:

Officers arrested Stephanie Pazmino, 30, around 11 p.m. after she allegedly stabbed a man in his left arm and slashed him in the face with a two-inch knife on the No. 4 train, police said. She was charged with assault as a hate crime, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Pazmino originally argued with the victim after he offered her his seat, police said. She turned him down and then sat next to her cousin.

“I don’t want to sit next to a black person,” she allegedly said to her cousin in Spanish.

In a New York Daily News report, the man, Ijan DaVonte Jarrett, said he moved to another seat opposite of Pazmino after telling her she didn’t have to sit next to him. As Jarrett was hopping off the train at 125th street in Harlem, that’s when Pazmino allegedly began her assault.

Pazmino is currently waiting on arraignment in the case on charges of assault as a hate crime, reckless endangerment and weapons possession.
