adidas Basketball Honors Arthur Ashe With Black History Month Collection Of Sneakers

adidas Basketball will celebrate Black History Month by honoring the legacy of the late, great Arthur Ashe. The pro tennis legend will serve as inspiration for an exclusive sneaker and apparel collection featuring the kicks ofJames Harden, Damian Lillard and Derrick Rose. 

First up in the Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection are limited-edition colorways of the Harden Vol. 1, Dame 3 and D Rose 7 signature basketball kicks.

As for technical specs, the shoes are fitted with scholastic legacy webbing (that sound’s interesting), a multi-color pattern featured throughout and nods to the honorary degrees from over 20 universities.

Harden Vol. 1 features a black and gray knit upper capped off with premium white leather and black contrasts, while Dame 3 and D Rose 7 pair classic white uppers and black accents in homage to the traditional performance gear of Ashe’s era. The “AA” graphic printed on the left sockliner stands not just for his initials but also for AIDS Awareness and Anti-Apartheid, while the “1975” graphic pays tribute to Ashe’s Wimbledon victory and No. 1 world ranking. “Arthur Ashe Activist Advocate” is displayed on the right sockliner to commemorate his contributions that transcend sport to this very day. Each model also comes equipped with a custom Arthur Ashe portrait and signature hangtag.

The Harden Vol. 1 ($140), Dame 3 ($115) and D Rose 7 ($140) Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection all drop January 23 at adidas.com while Harden, Lillard and Rose will rock the kicks throughout Black History Month.
