Issa Rae has gone from Youtube to HBO to movie theaters. The talented writer and actress has been cast to star in Empress Of Serenity alongside Saturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader.
Deadline reports:
Hader is aboard playing Sheldon, whose elaborate plan to win back his ex-wife is upended when he is guilted into a monthlong mega-cruise with his widowed father. Rae plays Michelle, a reclusive kindred spirit in the cabin next door who becomes both the aid and the obstacle in Sheldon’s plan.
Rae began building her resume with her highly popular The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl Youtube series. From there she went on produce several more Youtube series before inking a deal with HBO to create Insecure which is set to begin its second season in July.
