Troy Ave has found another way to take a capital L. This time it’s for lying about almost signing to TDE.The minute we heard Troy Ave say that he almost signed to TDE we knew he was lying, but now we actually have some kind of proof that he was.

In case you were ignoring him, Ave told a tall tale about Kendrick Lamar calling him and offering words of encouragement while he was in jail awaiting arraignment for his involvement in the Irving Plaza shooting last year. Somehow, this alleged phone call was interpreted as an invite to join the TDE team. On his NuPac mixtape, Ave says he instructed his former manager Hovain to set the play in motion but that he dropped the ball so the “shit just fell through.”

He tells the story on his track “Truth Be Told” on his NuPac mixtape.

Now, after getting annoyed with tweets, texts and phone calls about the story, label CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith has spoke out to set the record straight.

No, there was never a TDE deal on the table for Troy Ave.

Troy also mentioned that Lamar called him in jail during his Breakfast Club interview, guess that’s a lie too.

Most of Twitter didn’t need any convincing that Troy was lying, but they appreciated the information.
