A couple in Saudi Arabia is facing charges after they reportedly tortured their maid for complaining on the job.
According to published reports, the unidentified Saudi couple tortured their maid, who is a native of nearby Sri Lankan, by hammering 24 nails into her hands, legs and forehead after she complained of her workload being too heavy.
Authorities also claim that the 49-year old mother of three was taken to the hospital, after complaining about the pain, it wasn’t until they took her to see the doctor that the family learned about what happened.
The woman who is identified as L.T. Ariyawathi has been taken to hospital for surgery to remove the nails, which according to the maid were hammered in when they were hot.
Officials state that the medical X-rays showed one- to two-inch nails in her hands and legs, with one over her eyes, no word on whether the couple would face formal charges.
