This is exactly why Cheeto Trump, and the lowering of the bar for human decency, is so dangerous. Yesterday (July 28), while speaking to a room full of cops in Brentwood, Long Island, La Naranja encourage police brutality.

Trump’s speech was about curbing the MS-13 gang in LI. But he couldn’t help himself and started talking out the side of his neck.

“When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, I said, please don’t be too nice,” said Trump at Suffolk County Community College. “Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody — don’t hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay?”

Yep, the cops–with what looked like not a single officer of color in the bunch—laughed and cheered.

Trump also referred to the “bloodstained killing fields” of Long Island. Please, let us know when someone finds those. Send a photo so we know that it’s real.

To the credit of the LI cops, their leadership released a message admonishing Trump’s rhetoric.

“The SCPD has strict rules & procedures relating to the handling of prisoners,” wrote the Suffolk County PD on Twitter. “Violations of those rules are treated extremely seriously. As a department, we do not and will not tolerate roughing up of prisoners.”

Good to know there are grown ups on the force.
