Rihanna, the pride of her island home nation of Barbados, has used her stardom and platform to support worldwide humanitarian efforts. As a result, the Barbadian government will honor the pop star by renaming a road after her in the neighborhood she was raised in.

Barbadian outlet NationNews.com reports:

“The Government of Barbados will on Independence Day, Thursday 30th November, 2017 officially change the name of Westbury New Road located in St. Michael to Rihanna Drive in honour of Barbadian superstar Ms. Robyn Rihanna Fenty who grew up in Westbury New Road.”

The “Diamonds” singer will be present for the ceremony.

The outlet added in a later report that enthusiasm for the street renaming was mixed for some residents.
