One of our favorite social media tools is getting a facelift very soon. A Snapchat redesign is on its way to make the app “easier to use” as reported in their recent earnings report but will it help?

That’s the million dollar question.

In Q3 Snapchat reported they brought in a revenue of $207 million dollars, falling short of investors’ marks regarding expansion and user growth and reportedly suffering a huge loss of $443 million.

Bruh…

Snapchat Redesign

This is not good news at all especially with Instagram and their version of Snap’s temporary stories feature Instagram Stories doing well with their users.

Snapchat still hosts about 178 million active users daily but is lagging behind Instagram and WhatsApp’s 300 million active users. Trying to combat the slump short-term efforts didn’t help the company either—Snapchat’s spectacles flopped hard leaving thousands of pairs unsold and collecting dust on shelves.

Oh, and we can’t forget that dreaded idea to introduce Snap Map which had users worried about their privacy and safety. Both moves resulted in losses up too $40 million dollars for the company

The Snapchat redesign is their latest effort to boost user interface and growth in sales but Snap Inc. CEO Evan Spiegel warns this change won’t come without repercussions.

Spiegel on the apps upcoming redesign:

There is a strong likelihood that the redesign of our application will be disruptive to our business in the short term, and we don’t yet know how the behavior of our community will change when they begin to use our updated application. We’re willing to take that risk for what we believe are substantial long-term benefits to our business.

He is absolutely correct, people don’t like when you mess with something that isn’t broken and they have been striking out with recent additions to the app. Looks like not even DJ Khaled can save Snapchat from social media oblivion, we shall see how this new redesign affects the app when it comes.

Are you here for a new Snapchat look? Or have you already kicked the app to the curb for Instagram Stories?
