Soulja Boy Disses Lupe Fiasco

Soulja Boy may have taken a few strides to step up his lyrical game, but don’t expect him to start kicking knowledge anytime soon.

In an interview with XXL, Soulja Boy states that although he wants to be taken seriously as a rapper, he doesn’t want to overdo it.

“I can’t keep playin’ around, because if you keep playin’ around, people are gonna think you’re a joke,” Soulja Boy said in the interview. “At some point, you have to get serious.”

Although he wants to be taken serious, Soulja Boy states that he is not trying to be the next Lupe Fiasco.

“I don’t want to be super-Lupe-Fiasco-lyrical and N***as don’t know what the Fawk I’m talking about”, Soulja Boy continued.  “I want to be the best, I want to be recognized in that category where I’m nominated for Best Rapper with Jay-Z and Kanye and Wayne. I wanna get a Grammy. I want Best Rap Album of the Year… I’ve made millions of dollars off of doing my style, but, hey, I can rap, too.”

The DeAndre Way is due in stores November 30.

The XXL issue featuring Soulja Boy is on newsstands now.
