A brawl between California supporters and opponents of health care ended in a man biting another man’s finger off.
Capt. Frank O’Hanlon of Ventura County Sheriff’s office says about 100 supporters demonstrating outside a rally Wednesday night on a street corner when an opponent approached the demonstrators.
O’Hanlon said the man got into an argument which escalated to fisticuffs, during which he bit off the left pink of a 65-year-old man who opposed health care reform.
A hospital spokesman said the man only lost half his finger but it was successfully reattached and was sent home the same night.
The man was insured by Medicare.
