Raheem Devaughn To Be Honored By D.C.

R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn will honored by Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray on Thursday (May 5th).

Mayor Gray will present the Grammy-nominated artist with the key to the city for his community work in helping to fight HIV/AIDS, and preserving the arts for children and teens in Washington.

May 5th is also the singer’s birthday, and the D.C. mayor will declare the day as “”Raheem DeVaughn Day.”

“I am humbled and truly honored to be the recipient of The Key To The City and my own day by the District Of Columbia. I am very thankful to Washington, DC for their loyalty and support,” Raheem DeVaughn said to AllHipHop.com.

Devaughn’s latest album, The Love & War Masterpeace, was nominated for a Grammy, and debuted at #1 Billboard’s R&B Charts this past March.

The Key To The City ceremony and “Raheem Devaughn Day” announcement will take place tomorrow, outside of the Wilson Building in downtown D.C. at 3 P.M.
