NYPD officials conducted a massive raid in Harlem Wednesday morning aimed at ending a gang feud in a pair of housing projects in the borough. Although official numbers have yet to be released, police arrested dozens of alleged gang members with some unconfirmed reports saying the arrests led into the hundreds.

The NYPD recruits Muslim informants to spy in mosques, cafes, and other social locations around the Big Apple, according to a New York Times report. A task unit known as the Citywide Debriefing Team was created after Sept. 11th and targeted arrestees to cut deals in exchange for snitching.

A rookie NYPD officer was shot in the legs in Brooklyn Wednesday (February 26) evening while attempting to arrest a man who was trying to duck paying bus fare. The officer is currently listed in stable condition, and the suspect was arrested just blocks from where the shooting took place.

A NYPD detective has been sued 28 times since 2006, costing the city close to $1 million dollars in settlement payouts alone. An independent review of lawsuits against the city’s police force revealed that a handful of officers have been sued dozens of times, thus bringing the city’s payout to over $1 million.
