The "Wakanda Forever" actress will receive the award alongside Mel Brooks and Carol Littleton at the Governors Awards ceremony this November.


Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss sparked some controversy when discussing the new diversity requirements instituted by the Academy Awards for Best Picture nominees, claiming "They make me vomit." He went on to defend the use of Blackface, citing the infamous example of Laurence Olivier playing Othello in Blackface.

For Ruth E. Carter, history was achieved as she won the Oscar for Best Costume Design for her work on "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever". The 62-year-old became the first Black woman to do so and joined actors Denzel Washington and Mahershala Ali in a select category of multiple Black Academy Award winners.


Rihanna will perform her Oscar-nominated song, "Lift Me Up," at the 95th Oscars ceremony in March. It is her first Oscar nomination.
