The more information about the circumstances surrounding Mike Brown’s death are released, the shadier the Ferguson Police Department looks. Ferguson police chief Thomas Jackson told reporters today (Aug. 15) that the police officer who shot and killed the 18-year-old man had no idea he was a robbery suspect. 

Ferguson, Mo. police have finally identified the officer who shot and killed an unarmed African-American teenager. Today (Aug. 15), police chief Thomas Jackson revealed that it was officer Darren Wilson, a six-year veteran, who fatally wounded Mike Brown.

There is still some tension remaining in Ferguson, Mo. over the police shooting death of 18-year-old Mike Brown, but calm visited the region Thursday. After a state-ordered leadership switch, Ferguson police marched peacefully with the protesters and relaxed many of the strict rules.

The situation in Ferguson is by no means at an end, but there has been progress made at the state’s highest level. Gov. Jay Nixon announced Thursday that the Missouri State Highway Patrol will handle all policing matters in the troubled city, and already improvements have been reported.

Violence between protesters and police in Ferguson, Mo. Over the killing of unarmed Black teenager Mike Brown continued to escalate for the fourth day in a row. With authorities firing tear gas into crowds and rolling tanks through the city the past few days, the Show-Me State has been reduced to a literal war zone.

Protests in Ferguson, Mo., just northwest of the city of St. Louis, began peacefully enough on Sunday. With a report of thousands taking to the streets to protest the shooting of 18-year-old Mike Brown by city police, the situation turned violent as the night wore on.

Multiple witnesses claim a Missouri police officer shot and killed  Mike Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old, in Ferguson, Missouri, which is part of St. Louis County. While the officer has been placed on administrative leave, the community is in an uproar over the incident. 

The police officers who killed a 68-year-old veteran will not face charges for his death.  Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. was shot in his White Plains, N.Y. apartment last November, after authorities stormed the unit.
