There was no Powerball winner last night (Jan. 9). Thus, the jackpot has now climbed to $1.3B—yeah, BILLION.
Marie Holmes, the North Carolina woman who won $188 million in the Powerball, bailed out her no-good boyfriend for the fourth time at the top of 2016. Holmes posted a $12 million bond for Lamarr “Hot Sauce” McDow, who was locked up twice in 2014 alone.
It could be a common stereotype or misconception but it feels like most lottery winners are well off enough before they score the big payday.
