Plaxico Burress Denied Work Release...Must Remain In Prison
Plaxico Burress can't seem to get a break.
The former New York Giants wide-receiver was denied acceptance into a work release program that would have cut down his time on his two-year prison sentence. As Hip-Hop Wired previously reported, Burress plead guilty in August to criminal weapons possession after he accidentally shot himself in the leg inside a New York nightclub in 2008.
Burress' work release application was denied by the New York Department of Correctional Services because of the severity of the crime…he didn't have a concealed weapons permit. (Yeah right. Just NY making an example of the football star while its police can't stop or solve crimes of athletes getting robbed on their streets.)
The ruling for his denial read:
“At no time did you report this incident to local law enforcement. As such, it is determined that you must serve a greater portion of your sentence prior to consideration for potential participation in the temporary release program.”
Had he been accepted, Plaxico could have spent some of his sentence confined to his house. (I guess he can't get the T.I. deal.) The sentence was also said to be extreme seeing that the football star had no police record prior to the incident.
He can appeal the decision and reapply for work release in six months.
