Sade Rejects Offers From Jay-Z & Other Rappers For Collaborations

Although Jay-Z may be one of the most successful rappers of all time, one project he will never accomplish, is working with singer Sade.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sade reveals that Jay–Z and other MCs have approached her about rapping over her beats or having her sing the hook on their records, but she has politely declined.

“I'm too scared they'll find me out. It's like The Wizard of Oz. They'll find out there's nothing there. As for collaborations, I'm collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write.”

However, you may have a better chance in copying a sample from one of the most recognized singers of all time, as Sade says it won't cost you much.

“When it comes to sample clearances, I'm probably the cheapest chick in the west."


Sade and her band will kick off the North American leg of their 50-city tour on June 16.

    Finally!!! A major music artist is standing up to these rappers and basically saying "no thanks, I like my music style just the way it is." Why are these rappers trying to get on EVERYBODY'S album anyway these days? I don't mind listening to rap music sometimes, just not all the time....Sheeesh, they need to back off some of these non-rap music artists! Really I'm sick of them being on EVERY singer's album , mixtapes, etc. Sade is a well-established and proven music artist. Let her alone; we still want the calm, easy listening music she makes. People need to start sending feedback to these record labels, MTV, VHI, BET, and radio stations to play more music from actual singers sometimes (I do)---not just rap music and rap music collabos. Music has gotten way too saturated with rap.
    Alicia Keys, The Dream, Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo, and other singers were doing great without need of rap collabos.

    You right Vee lets ignore Drake wrote most of" Un-thinkable". She can say yes and no to who she wants. No offense to the great Sade, too many great singer that will work on a track with rappers to waste their time with her.

    How about these big names give some shine to the young guns like Krit, Wiz, Gibbs (he's been around, but he's getting buzz now) or an older rappers like Reks, Kane, Slick Rick, etc.

    Some rappers do paint pictures too bad a lot of you ignore their art.
