Hip-Hop Wired recently caught up with Christian Hip-Hop artist Lecrae who really is moving units with his latest efforts Rehab and Rehab: The Overdose.

Previously holding down the #1 spot on Billboard’s Gospel and Christian charts, Lecrae was also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album of the Year category.

But don’t get twisted, Lecrae has probaly seen more of the streets than your favorite “gangsta” rapper but just spits realism with a message in his music and trying to save your soul in the process.

“I’m authentically Hip-Hop.  I’m part of the culture. It’s what I know.  It’s what I was raised in but I’m authentically Christian too…so I’m not gone shy away from that.  I’m just talking about what goes on in real life… like the devastation that happened in Haiti, how I feel about it and God’s perspective on it.

I’m talking about growing up without my father and trying to figure out what it is to be a man and how God helped me through that situation…  Let’s be real 90% of Christians who did rap in the past were terrible.  The music wasn’t good but I respect the art form and the craft and I think if you love Hip-Hop, you’ll respect what I’m doing.”

Peep the interview with the man whose gained the respect of Bun B, Kendrick Lamar, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco  and the Clipse’s Malice.
