According to a post on Indie Wire, the chains and "shackles," which can be connected to the consumer's ankle, are racist. "I doubt this is what Run DMC envisioned when they rapped about their 50 pairs of Adidas way back when," read the post. "I'm trying to picture guys and gals strutting down the street with these on. I'm sure a dissertation could probably written about these, given the group that would most likely be seen wearing these."
On their Facebook page, the company has explained that the "shackles" are for those with "a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles."
The kicks drop in August. Click below to judge whether or not they're racially insensitive.
