Actor, singer and comedian Jamie Foxx has the attention of Hollywood with the upcoming Christmas Day release of the Quentin Taratino shoot-em-up western flick Django Unchained. According to a report from Variety, the Academy Award-winning Foxx is said to have been in talks to star as the super villain Electro in the upcoming film The Amazing  Spider-Man 2.

Marvel Entertainment, and its film arm Marvel Studios, have successfully translated its rich and vast comic book universe to the big screen. 2012 was especially huge for the franchise after the record-breaking The Avengers wowed audiences earlier in the year. Co-producing a reboot of the beloved Spider-Man franchise, Marvel joined forces with Sony/Columbia to release this year's The Amazing Spider-Man from director Marc Webb.

Although Variety relied on sources, a curious tweet from Foxx that read, "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well” fueled the rumors of the 44-year-old Texas native snagging the part of Spidey's electrifying nemesis. Fans began the speculation of Electro making an appearance after a bonus scene featuring The Lizard and a lot of ominous flashes of lightning appeared in the first film . In the comics, Electro comes to life after electrical engineer Maxwell Dillon is hit with lightning during a freak storm.

Movie review site Collider caught up with Marc Webb for an exclusive interview where the director gushed over Jamie Foxx's In Living Color days and his upcoming role in Django Unchained – calling him “one of the greatest character actors ever.”
