Yes, a Beverly Hills Cop reboot, as a television show, is really happening. Brandon T. Jackson has been tabbed to star as the son of Axel T. Foley, the character originally portrayed and popularized by Eddie Murphy.

The actor-comedian, seen in films like Tropic Thunder, Roll Bounce and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, has signed on the dotted like to appear in the pilot for the Beverly Hill Cop TV show that is being shot by Sony Production and executive produced by Murphy and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, reports Deadline. The pilot is thought to be just a formality for the show that plans to air on CBS if it is picked up.

Picking up years after the trio of Beverly Hills Cop films, Jackson will play a detective in Beverly Hills working in the shadow of the esteemed reputation of his father, with Murphy set to reprise his role as Axel Foley in the pilot. Deadline also reports that Murphy handpicked Jackson for the role.

Do you think a Beverly Hills Cop TV show is a good look or should Hollywood just let its legacy be?
