The gauntlet has been thrown. Although the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets have tried to downplay any rivalry, it looks like it is now out of their hands.

Before the Knicks take the court for the time in over forty years as a visiting team in New York, Brooklyn Borough President Marky Markowitz disowned all Brooklyn residents that are Knicks fans.

“If you support, cheer, root for the Manhattan Knicks, you are treasonous,” says Markowitz. “You can be brought on charges by me personally, there is no room for you in Brooklyn unless you support our home team, the Brooklyn Nets.”

He went on to call the Nets the future NBA “champions of America.”

The Brooklyn Nets host the New York Knicks tonight at 7:00Pm in the Barclays Center. Check the video of the borough president down below.
