Must it always be a black & white thing? Keyshia Cole made news recently when after an interview on BET's 106 & Park some assumed her being initially unsure about performing at 2012's Black Girls Rock show was because she is bi-racial. Needless to say the backlash was swift, with plenty of people wondering if Cole had lost her mind. The singer recently took to Twitter clarify her statement.

While on 106 & Park, Cole stated, "I'm bi-racial but it's okay…I'm Black, I'm Black... At first I was kind of skeptical about being a part of the Black Girls Rock organization but then when I read on it and I realized how strengthening it is for our Black women and women in general, how strengthening it is for us to come together and understand that no matter what, we rock. I'm so happy to be a part of it."

With the Internets chattering that Cole didn't consider herself Black since her father is thought to be Caucasian, she took to Twitter to clarify her comments. "#BlackGirlsRock first off I feel ALLGIRLSROCK!! And by the way, I don't not know what I'm mixed with, nor have I tried to find out/...," tweeted Cole. "I was raised in Oakland. My mother is a black woman HOWEVER I do not know my father. Nor really car to know! Was thankful to be apart of..  I had to just do research. Didn't know what the organization was about in the beginning. But uplifting young ladies is... What I'm damn sure about! Don't get it twisted!"

Cole then added, " People talking about I said I'm not black? Wtf.. People are crazy! They will take your words and do what they want with them! #GetaLife."

And there you have it. Keyshia Cole is a certified Soul sista. However, everyone please refer to the one drop rule for all future reference.

  • Shall the Truth ever be told

Once again Keyshia Cole is trying to cover up her tracks...First it was Yvonne is just in it for the money to Yvonne is such a wonderful mother. Now it's I'm bi-racial (but yet she doesn't know what she's mixed with...ok) to I'm Black...Which one is it? Sounds like Keyshia Cole is confuse about a few things... who she is, how she was truly rasied, and how many or who she have slept with....what's next?

She's confused as F**k! If u don't know who your daddy is, then how would you know if you're bi-racial! Did she ever get a chance to finish school?

  • Simone

No its not that shes begging to be mixed by saying shes biracial im sure youre intelligent enough to see that when you look at her she looks mixed anyway :s im black and v.proud to be :D so not every black person wants to not be black thanks!

  • tay-lia

its funny how she had to be all oh I wasn't sure if I should do it because i'm bi-racial yet Alicia Keys a woman who is surely bi-racial raised by a white woman probably did not question at all whether she should've been there

In Her defense, Black people like to pull your "Black Card" too much.

If you "too light", "talk white", one of your features not black enough, or your a different ethnicity (African, afro-Latin, Caribbean), you get your "Black Card" pulled the second you say something people don't like.

And the second that you say I'm part (something other that black): "aww you a sellout", "you a wanna be", "You aint half white, you black".

People need to stop that bull ish.

You can be more than one thing in this life. Hell 99.9% of black people are mixed in some way shape or form. Unless your from the motherland you are not 100% African/black.

Keisha Cole is an idiot! Tracee Ellis Ross is one of the founders of Black Girls Rock and she is clearly mixed! Her Dad is White-American and her Mom, Diana Ross is African-American! The org. was established to empower all Black Women especially our young girls! Keisha is somewhat of a question mark she has always been weird, she wasn't raised.
