Yesterday (January 31), photos of DJ Whoo Kid getting arrested near the G-Unit offices hit Instagram. The DJ and radio personality was released early this morning after being held for driving with a suspended license and outstanding traffic tickets.

Whoo Kid explained to Hip-Hop Wired the circumstances of his arrest. “I went to the G-Unit offices to have a meeting for some VH1 sh-t,” he explains. “When I was leaving the meeting, I was on my way to interview A$AP Ferg  [at Shade 45]. I had to go up 40th St and I’m getting the phone calls to make sure I’m getting to Shade. I looked at my phone to see who was calling me and a cop thought I was texting. So he pulled me over. It’s the 31st  [of January] so it’s their quota. Once they saw I had nine suspensions, I had my boy from the office come take my car and that’s when [the police] took me.”

Whoo Kid was pulled over at about 1:30pm, then taken to the local precint before he was transferred to The Tombs (Central Booking). He asserts that the arrest very real and not staged.

“I wish it was fake. I didn’t want to go through that sh-t,” he says, “First of all, ain’t no NYPD cop taking photos of handcuffing mother-ckers for Instagram. They would get fired. Why would you assume that’s fake?”

There was hope that he would be released last night but someone ticked off the judge which forced him to spend the night in jail. Whoo Kid’s celebrity meant his stay in the Tombs wasn’t too bad, as far as jail goes.

“It was a rough and cool time,” he says. “It’s not like people was trying to f-ck with me. Everybody was happy I was in there; they couldn’t believe that Whoo Kid was locked up with them.”

The man born Yves Mondesir was released without being charged but he has to go to the DMV to take care of any fines. However, nineteen hours in the bing meant he had to cancel that interview with A$AP Ferg and a scheduled appearance on BET’s 106 & Park. It also meant not using the bathroom, which he felt inclined to happily detail.

“I had to hold my sh-t for 19 hours,” says Whoo Kid. “The first thing did when I got home was take a sh-t. If anything is real it’s me rushing home to take a sh-t. I held it. I didn’t eat nothing. That’s the first thing Yayo told me. ‘Don’t eat kid, G-Unit.’”

This weekend Whoo Kid will be spinning at a Super Bowl show featuring  Pusha T and A$AP Rocky tomorrow. He will be going on the “DJ Whoo Kid Moisture” tour, hitting 20 countries including Abu Dhabi, Romania and Dubai before finishing in Las Vegas at the Magic Convention with Flat Fitty.

“Other than that man, I’m just trying to stay out of jail for some bullshit. I think I got street cred, yo. Come on 19 hours? 9 suspensions kid? I’m bigger than Rick Ross right now.”
