President Obama is giving the first State of the Union address of his second term. With the country's financial situation still not fully recovered, the president will encourage the nation to help "reignite the true engine," as it relates to growth of the economy. He will also speak on soldiers serving in the Middle East. The Los Angeles Times reports:
One specific part of Obama's speech, his declaration that U.S. troop numbers in Afghanistan will be halved over the next year, has already been leaked to the news media. But many other specifics about the speech remain undisclosed, including what Obama will say about climate change, gay rights and proposals to change voting procedures to eliminate long lines at the polls.
Within the next hour or so we'll see what the partisan response to the president's words will be, so be sure to stay tuned to Hip-Hop Wired for updates. Watch the live stream below. -- Photo: AP
